Boulder Opal or opal on rock is found nowhere else on Earth, other than the state of Queensland in Australia. Formed during the Cretaceous period, 94 million years ago, in the inland fresh waters of the Eromanga Sea. Queensland opals are the most robust and stable opals in the World, with strength, durability and stability provided by the ironstone. Queensland opals are waterproof and stable - suitable for extended wear, requiring little or no special care. Mohs hardness 5.5 - 6

“How do you take two of the most vibrant and electric Lightning Ridge Opals I’ve ever seen and put them together? I wanted each of them to have the spotlight they needed -without competing with each other. Linked by a ribbon of diamonds handset into luscious rose gold. I’ve carefully placed the opals on a full backing of solid rose gold to bounce back light through these deliciously transparent stones, highlighting Lightning Ridge materials' signature red/orange colour. These stones were sourced last century, in the mid-1980’s.
Featuring two solid, natural crystal opals sourced from Lightning Ridge. Main one is 13mm x 6mm, which weighs 1.27ct and a smaller 9.5mm x 5mm 0.64ct
Accented with four brilliant cut lab-grown diamonds.

NOTES
Morganite is the pink to orange variety of beryl, a mineral that includes emerald and aquamarine. It is the addition of manganese that creates this wonderfully subtle and soft colouration. The gem we know as morganite was initially called "pink beryl" before Tiffany & Co.’s chief gemmologist George Kunz re-named it in 1911. Kunz chose the name "morganite" to honour financier and philanthropist J.P Morgan, friend, patron and avid gem collector who was also a patron of Tiffany's. This stone were sourced in the mid-1990s from Madagascar.
