Coober Pedy is a homogeneous precious opal formed during the Cretaceous period, over 100 million years ago, in the freshwater of the Eromanga Sea in Australia. Their unique body tone enhances the vibrant intensity and diverse play of colour. Like all natural untreated Australian opals, they are durable, stable and unaffected by water. Opals are waterproof and stable - suitable for extended wear, requiring little or no special care. Mohs hardness 5.5 - 6
