Boulder Opal or opal on rock is found nowhere else on Earth, other than the state of Queensland in Australia. Formed during the Cretaceous period, 94 million years ago, in the inland fresh waters of the Eromanga Sea. Queensland opals are the most robust and stable opals in the World, with strength, durability and stability provided by the ironstone. Queensland opals are waterproof and stable - suitable for extended wear, requiring little or no special care. Mohs hardness 5.5 - 6
Opal measures 22.33mm x 7.43mm. The stone is undulating, exceptionally lively, and captivating, displaying explosive red, orange, yellow, teal, and green.
The finished ring has a total weight of 5.32 g.
