Boulder Opal or opal on rock is found nowhere else on Earth, other than the state of Queensland in Australia . Formed during the Cretaceous period, 94 million years ago, in the inland fresh waters of the Eromanga Sea. Queensland opals are the most robust and stable opals in the World, with strength, durability and stability provided by the ironstone. Queensland opals are waterproof and stable - suitable for extended wear, requiring little or no special care. Mohs hardness 5.5 - 6
Pearls are precious, organic gems formed within the shells of molluscs. The process begins when the animal encounters an internal irritant, which it then covers with calcium carbonate nacre. For over a Century, the majority of pearls have been produced using a cultivated method in which the irritant is medically introduced. Pearls are prized and renowned for their natural lustre and represent knowledge, purity and the art of transformation, Mohs 4.5
Chrysoprase is the vibrant apple-green variant of chalcedony quartz, achieving its unique and beautiful colour from nickel. The finest examples in the world are found around the Malborough region in Australia’s state of Queensland. Mohs 6.5
