For over a Century, the majority of pearls have been produced using a cultivated method in which the irritant is medically introduced. Rainbow Kelp shells or Maireener shells (Phasianotrochus irisodontes) are small iridescent shellfish found only in Tasmania and the Bass Strait. They are central to the oldest continuing cultural practice of Tasmanian Aboriginal (Palawa) women, who gather and craft them into highly treasured strands. Organic. Mohs 3.0
Chrysoprase is the vibrant apple-green variant of chalcedony quartz, achieving its unique and beautiful colour from nickel. The finest examples in the world are found around the Malborough region in Australia’s state of Queensland. Mohs 6.5
