Diamonds are made from pure carbon atoms arranged in a strong tetrahedral structure. The immense temperatures and extreme pressures typically found deep within the Earth create conditions that force carbon atoms to bond. Late last century (the 1970s), researchers perfected the conditions of high pressure and high temperature to produce gem-quality, pure-carbon diamonds. Decades of development have resulted in a lab-cultured diamond that is environmentally sustainable, economical and uniform in appearance. This piece contains a commercially cultured diamond, with a Mohs hardness of 10.
Eight x 2 mm brilliant-cut cultured diamonds. D colour, VS1 clarity. Total Diamond weight is 0.25ct. Cultured Diamonds are grown in a laboratory. They are optically, chemically and physically identical to naturally formed diamonds.
